This film uses queer theory, based on my understandings, Megan was just a teenage girl trying to be herself when her parents and friends assumed she was lesbian. All this for what ? Just because she does not like kissing a guy ? If we paid attention to the front part, we can see that the boyfriend is a sloppy kisser, given to kiss a guy like this, I would rather kiss a girl. Then they said she have pictures of a hot model in her locker, what is wrong with having a women’s photo ? I mean we need some kind of reference on how to be the ideal women right. Megan was sent to True Direction hoping that she will come out as a straight girl, but little did they know, she came out as a lesbian, with her girlfriend.
But I’m a cheerleader is overall a very good movie for teenagers to know what they are dealing with. It is worth watching more than once. Might as well recommend it to anyone who is going through the same problem !
